Founded by Darren Smiley in 2019, Silver Creek Consulting is based on a simple concept:

Darren wanted to apply his 25+ years of risk management experience working with companies from wall street, to main street in a way that helps good people solve problems.

This attitude permeates our entire approach to safety in the workplace.  We address each client as what they are, a unique business model with unique issues and needs.

​Darren works with our clients to identify their needs, and help identify solutions.  Construction, manufacturing, hospitality, education, and governments have relied on Darren for over a quarter of a century to provide safety services and risk control within their enterprise.

Darren has been a licensed insurance agent in Iowa and Illinois, and is an OSHA 10 and 30 hour authorized trainer.  He also is an adjunct instructor at Kirkwood Community College Continuing Education's (a host site for the Metropolitan Community College OSHA Training Institute), and Eastern Iowa Community College District.  He has trained thousands of people in safety and OSHA regulations.

Our Food Safety Consultant

Donovan Smiley

Donovan works with restaurants to identify food handling and storage issues, and develop staff practices to reduce foodborne illness and staff injuries.

Donovan is ServeSafe certified, has taken the OSHA 30-hour, and is a chef with experience in fine dining and banquet kitchens.
